News anchor Allison Kropff from Tampa posted a video to her Facebook page of her "accidentally" interrupting a live weather forecast while playing "Pokemon Go." The Huffington Post reports meteorologist Bobby Deskins told Kropff to be more careful. "You guys have got to be cautious with these telephones, these Pokemon," he said. "You are only walking around all over the location." embed.
Finally, and maybe most significantly, Yo-Kai can speak! In fact, the little boogers have a ton of character. Do not get me wrong; I love my carefully curated Pokemon collection to departure, but do I understand any of these critters that can only say their names? I understand the whole backstory of my chief Yo-Kai, Jibanyan. Other Yokai that I meet can ask me for things and certainly get their feelings across... and that is extremely trendy in comparison to Pokemon. Now, of course, it's not possible at this point to make Pokemon unexpectedly able to speak to their trainers, but the Pokemon anime certainly spends time helping us get to know certain Pokemon as creatures with specific styles and problems. I'd love it if the games could do a bit more of that instead of simply treating them as a means to an end.
In the immediate future, those upgrades include Niantic focusing on stabilizing the servers and found the game in other areas, having just officially released in the USA, New Zealand, and Australia.
Many of you have probably missed it in November's onslaught of chart-topping releases, but Nintendo has snuck out a small creature-catching game that is been all the rage in Japan for the last few years. Yo-Kai Watch is a bit like the new Pokemon for Japanese children, complete with its extremely-popular anime series. Now that the first game is here, we can see what all the fuss is about, and I've quite enjoyed the title. Actually, in a number of ways, I believe it's even cooler than Pokemon.
First, Yo-Kai Watch takes place in our world, and your character has regular child anxieties. You are not some pre teen who's tossed out into the crazy world to face down dangerous creatures and train them to participate in eccentric gladiatorial fight rites. You're a regular kid who needs to fit in with her (or his) friends and worries when her parents fight. Yet, I 'm proposing that Pokemon games could spend a little more time dealing with stories that we can relate to as individuals. The short episodes that make up the story of Yo-Kai Watch remind me of mini anime episodes, and that is precisely what I Have desired to see the Pokemon games do a bit more of when it comes to narratives.
What one other component of the game Niantic intends to address is the lack of explanation it gives for particular game mechanics. Addressing particularly the rings that form around a Pokemon while catching them, Hanke declares that the game isn't intentionally obtuse.
"We treat it as an ever-evolving game," Niantic CEO John Hanke said in an interview with Game Informer. "It is not something that merely minted and then issued on launch day and not transformed."
"We got lots of comments during the beta, we made a lot of improvements, we fixed lots of bugs, but I'd place it into that group of something we had love to make that more so that it's more clear."
Now that Pokemon Go has properly launched --- in certain lands, at least ---Niantic Labs has no intention of leaving the game in its present state. Instead, the programmer plans to update the game always.
In Yo-Kai Watch you play a kid who gets the power to see and speak to Yokai, brilliant natures who embody human characteristics and emotions. The battle system is real-time and completely different from Pokemon, and the stream of the story is totally distinct. Still, there are a few things about Yo-Kai Watch's setting and the story I believe The Pokemon Company could learn from.
The people in the Yo-Kai Watch world also feel more actual than Pokemon game people. Everybody, from small children to old folks, in the Pokemon world, is obsessed with talking about Pokemon. Virtually everybody you speak to gives you meta-game guidance about Pokemon or Pokemon-related services. They'ren't individuals; they're an lengthy tutorial delivery service. The folks in Yo-Kai Watch, on the other hand, have distinct personalities and difficulties you can pick to help them with. Frequently these difficulties can be solved by summoning or dispelling a Yokai, but they don't understand that. They only know their employee is inexplicably late for work, they lost an important toy, or they don't understand how to ask out the object of their affection. In other words, you can see them as genuine individuals with interests unrelated to you and your quest. I'd love to see more of that from.
Hanke noted that this doesn't mean the game will necessarily receive major attributes with each update, but Niantic is given to regularly working on and enhancing the game. As Hanke has previously said, he reiterates that attributes like trading and upgrades to PokeStops and gyms are among the strategies the programmer has in store.
Niantic is, in addition, looking into Pokemon Go's GPS and battery utilization issues. It was also recently discovered that Pokemon Go allows Niantic full accessibility to users' complete Google accounts when they enroll with that information.
