Pokémon GO Map in Lake Mackay NT is broken. The game crashes at a rate that would doom other brand-new mobile title. And these aren't random occurrences. The basic act of the game, capturing a Pokémon, frequently triggers it to crash, a difficult freeze that requires rebooting the app, itself a long load that often freezes. Add in a constellation of problems and you have an item that feels unfinished.

News anchor Allison Kropff from Tampa posted a video to her Facebook page of her "inadvertently" interrupting a live weather forecast while playing "Pokemon Go." The Huffington Post reports meteorologist Bobby Deskins told Kropff to be more attentive. "You guys have got to be cautious with these phones, these Pokemon," he said. "You're just walking around all over the area." embed.
Eventually, and perhaps most significantly, Yo-Kai can discuss! Actually, the little boogers have a ton of character. Don't get me wrong; I adore my carefully curated Pokemon collection to passing, but do I know any of these critters that can only say their names? I know the entire backstory of my main Yo-Kai, Jibanyan. Other Yo Kai that I meet can ask me for things and certainly get their feelings across... and that is extremely trendy compared to Pokemon. Now, obviously, it is not possible at this point to make Pokemon suddenly able to talk to their trainers, but the Pokemon anime definitely spends time helping us get to understand certain Pokemon as creatures with specific styles and difficulties.
In the immediate future, those updates include Niantic focusing on stabilizing the servers and starting the game in other areas, having only officially released in the USA, New Zealand, and Australia.
Many of you have probably missed it in November's onslaught of chart-topping releases, but Nintendo has snuck out a small creature-catching game that's been all the rage in Japan for the last few years. Yo-Kai Watch is a bit like the new Pokemon for Japanese children, complete with its enormously-popular anime series. Actually, in a few ways, I think it's even cooler than Pokemon.
First, Yo-Kai Watch occurs in our world, and your character has normal child anxieties. You are not some pre teen who's tossed out into the crazy world to face down dangerous creatures and train them to participate in bizarre gladiatorial combat rituals. You are a normal kid who needs to fit in with her (or his) friends and stresses when her parents fight. Now, I'm not saying that all games should take place in the real world - I love fantasy and sci-fi worlds! Nonetheless, I'm proposing that Pokemon games could spend a little more time coping with narratives that we can relate to as people. The brief episodes that make up the story of Yo-Kai Watch remind me of miniature anime episodes, and that's precisely what I Have wanted to see the Pokemon games do a bit more of when it comes to narratives.
What one other component of the game Niantic intends to address is the lack of explanation it gives for certain game mechanics. Addressing specifically the rings that form around a Pokemon while catching them, Hanke discloses that the game is not deliberately obtuse.
"It is not something that merely minted and then issued on launching day and not changed."
"I can not say we were that intelligent, no" Hanke said of whether the game was meant to have players work together to learn the app's intricacies. "We got a lot of feedback during the beta, we made a lot of developments, we fixed lots of bugs, but I'd put it into that category of something we'd love to make that more so that it's more apparent."
Now that Pokemon Go has properly started --- in certain territories, at least ---Niantic Labs has no intention of leaving the game in its current state. Instead, the developer plans to update the game always.
In Yo-Kai Watch you play a child who gets the power to see and speak to Yokai, colorful natures who embody human characteristics and emotions. It's possible for you to recruit a ton of them to your side by defeating them in battle, but that is pretty much where the direct similarity to a Pokemon game endings. The battle system is real-time and completely distinct from Pokemon, and the flow of the story is totally different. However, there are a couple of things about Yo-Kai Watch's setting and the story I believe The Pokemon Company could learn from.
The people in the Yo-Kai Watch world also feel more actual than Pokemon game people. Everybody, from small children to old people, in the Pokemon world, is obsessed with talking about Pokemon. Almost everybody you talk to gives you meta-game guidance about Pokemon or Pokemon-related services. They'ren't people; they're an extended tutorial delivery service. The people in Yo-Kai Watch, on the other hand, have distinct personalities and problems that you can pick to help them with. Frequently these issues can be solved by summoning or dispelling a Yo-Kai, but they don't understand that. They simply know their worker is inexplicably late for work, they lost an important plaything, or they do not understand how to ask out the target of their affection. To put it differently, you can see them as actual individuals with interests unrelated to you and your pursuit. I'd love to see more of that from.
Hanke noted that this does not mean the game will necessarily receive major attributes with each update, but Niantic is dedicated to regularly working on and improving the game. As Hanke has formerly said, he reiterates that attributes like trading and upgrades to PokeStops and gyms are among the plans the programmer has in store.
Niantic is also looking into Pokemon Go's GPS and battery use problems. It was also recently found that Pokemon Go allows Niantic total accessibility to users' complete Google accounts when they register with that information.
