What I enjoyed most about playing Pokemon Go was that I logged almost 5,000 steps while playing. Yes, people do get a substantial quantity of exercise while playing. But, folks continue to be glued to their phones, obsessively staring at their phone screen trying to find the next Pokemon.

For the past week or so, all I 've seen on social media websites are folks posting about playing Pokemon Go. So many folks have been saying, "This is the game I Have been waiting for my whole life," or "I used to play Pokemon as a kid and now I get to play it as a twenty-year-old who has nothing better to do on a Tuesday night," or "It's a lot of pleasure and a fantastic means to get out of the house." As the devoted writer, I 'm, I needed to compose an article about it. But of course, that would mean I 'd have to play. I did not need to play this Pokemon game. I've never once in my life had the desire to play anything that's to do with Pokemon. For the benefit of this article, however, I chucked all of those notions away and walked around for an hour and a half trying to figure out this Pokemon craze.

The Pokemon card game is quite popular with children. Likewise, we get the stats on a Pokemon, and it is rather like a robot. But that is not so in the imagination. In the imagination it is something living. And if we do something to it like make it shiny (glossy daikon cards), it becomes even more valuable and alive.

It just doesn't make lots of sense to me how intense folks got when I played. Go locate her!" Because all of a sudden, I Had see a group of four teenaged boys running down the street, phones in hand. Obviously, no. Those boys weren't after cash or Beyonce. They weren't after anything real, anything with a genuine reward or outcome, for that matter.

If the dream behind a game is strong enough, it can result in spinoffs. Conversely, something that is popular like Ultraman can lead to a game. But games typically remain games and toys stay playthings. Pokemon has seen really great spinoff (though it's not taking the world by storm) because of its intriguing concept. This is where the robot is left behind, and the human imagination starts to reach out and explore.

I began by walking around downtown Springfield, Missouri, with a buddy. My friend is really into Pokemon Go. He's spent the last week walking around parks and sites throughout the city attempting to capture strange virtual creatures. He tried to teach me how.

The imagination is a funny thing. Geeks design and fight their 'bots' with a very powerful ego: they designed the robot; they're matching their skill against their competition's. When a premise, or story, is put into a game that all changes. Pokemon are robots to be sure, but the user didn't design them- computer game geeks did. So it becomes a fantasy world in which the object would be to get the greatest Pokemon that one can use it 'feature' to the best of one's ability. When losing, one can almost believe that the Pokemon let him down, wasn't powerful enough, or whatever. He may blame himself partly, but not completely.

Pokemon fans through the world may shun me, but my judgment is that I still don't understand the craze. I do not understand how folks do not get bored with it after a few minutes and how they get so passionate about funny-looking characters on an app. I don't understand why anyone would spend time on something daft like Pokemon Go. That being said, it is not my place to tell the world to cease doing what they love. If you need to play, then play.

All I grabbed in the hour and a half of playing is that you walk around aimlessly as your avatar on the Pokemon Go app walks to PokeStops, where you can potentially catch a Pokemon. If a Pokemon appears, you need to throw a virtual Poke Ball at it to catch it. Then you definitely walk and walk and walk some more to get more Pokemon. Seemingly, you sometimes can snitch Pokemon from other folks and have battles with other users as well. That component is over my head.

Not many are conscious of this maybe (or perhaps you are!) but nearly every computer game we play is an use of robotic software technology. That is, the icons you see, and play are application settings with set parameters. It cannot go beyond those parameters just because that's the constraint of its programming. Frequently, in fact, 'upgrading' doesn't involve adding a brand new function to an existing entity, but instead simply replacing it in its entirety and downloading its memory from the game's database.
